FAQ

Questions people ask before their first flight

Specific answers, because we fly one aircraft and know it well. Anything we cannot confirm yet is marked, not guessed.

Flying with us

What aircraft will I fly in?

N369ZD, a 2025 Cirrus SR22 G7+. It is a single-engine aircraft that carries up to three passengers, with modern Garmin avionics and a whole-airframe parachute. We operate one aircraft, so the tail number on the aircraft page is the tail number you board.

How many passengers can fly?

Up to three. The price covers the whole plane, so one, two, or three people pay the same. We plan every flight's weight against the aircraft's real weight-and-balance numbers. Tell us the group and the bags when you ask for a quote and we will confirm the fit.

How much luggage fits?

Soft weekend bags, one per person, travel easily. If you have more, like golf bags or camera gear, tell us up front and we will confirm what fits before you book. Nobody gets a surprise on the ramp.

Can my dog come?

Yes. Well-behaved pets ride in the cabin with you. No cargo hold, no crate counter, no airline pet fee. Tell us at booking so we can plan space and weight.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Forty-eight hours is comfortable. Summer weekend slots for Nantucket and the Hamptons go earlier. Shorter notice is often possible. Call and ask.

Where do I show up, and how early?

Lakewood Airport (N12) in Lakewood, NJ, about fifteen minutes before departure. You park, walk to the aircraft, and go. Exact meeting instructions come with your booking confirmation.

Safety

Is it safe to fly in a small single-engine plane?

The aircraft is a 2025 Cirrus, the aircraft family built around CAPS: a whole-airframe parachute that can lower the entire airplane to the ground if something goes seriously wrong. Around that sit the layers that keep it unused: a modern autopilot with stability protection, terrain and traffic alerting, datalink weather, cautious weather decisions, and the FAA Part 135 oversight our certificate requires. The safety page covers each one in detail.

What is CAPS, exactly?

The Cirrus Airframe Parachute System. It is a parachute for the whole airplane, mounted in the airframe and fired by a rocket when the red ceiling handle is pulled. The aircraft descends under canopy, and the seats and landing gear absorb the touchdown. It is built for the scenarios passengers worry about, like an engine failure or a pilot who cannot fly, and the handle is simple enough for a passenger to pull. It has altitude and speed limits, set out in the aircraft handbook. It is standard on every Cirrus. Our aircraft also has Garmin Safe Return, which can land the plane on its own at the push of a button.

Who operates my charter flight?

We do. On Demand Air, LLC is an FAA-certificated Part 135 air carrier, Certificate No. 11OA100M, and all charter flights are operated under our own certificate. That certificate, with its pilot checkrides, drug and alcohol testing, and maintenance oversight, is what makes charter legal to sell to the public. Ask any operator you fly with to show you theirs.

How experienced is the pilot?

Our pilot is a commercial pilot, instrument-rated, holding an FAA Class I medical, Cirrus-trained, with more than fifteen years in corporate and charter aviation. Every flight is flown to the airline-style rules our Part 135 certificate requires: recurrent training, checkrides, and duty-time limits. Ask us anything about the person up front.

What happens if the weather turns bad?

We cancel or reschedule, and we tell you as early as we can. A piston single does not fly through thunderstorms or severe icing. N369ZD is approved for flight into known icing, which opens up more winter days, but we still make the call on the cautious side. Weather cancellations are refunded in full, always, and we work to rebook you first. If your plans have some flexibility, this aircraft will serve you well. If a departure absolutely cannot move, tell us and we will talk it through.

Is the flight insured?

Yes. Ask and we will show you the current certificate of insurance before you book.

Cost and booking

What does a flight cost?

Every trip is quoted individually. Tell us your destination, dates, preferred departure time, passenger count, and return plans. We will confirm availability and send a written quote for the whole aircraft, including the airport fees and flight arrangements for your itinerary.

How are same-day and overnight trips quoted?

Tell us whether you are returning the same day or staying overnight. Your quote will account for any aircraft waiting, repositioning, and return flights needed for your itinerary. We confirm the arrangements and total before you book.

Is there Wi-Fi on board?

Yes. Starlink. Fast enough to work or stream. It comes with the aircraft at no extra charge.

How do deposits and payment work?

A deposit secures your booking and the balance is due 48 hours before departure. We accept wire and ACH transfers. The quote you accept is the number you pay. No memberships, no surcharges later.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancel more than 48 hours before departure and you get a full refund. Inside 48 hours a fee may apply, because a held aircraft is a trip we turned down. Anything we cancel, for weather, mechanical, or any reason on our side, is refunded in full.

Can I book the aircraft for a full day, or multiple stops?

Yes. Day charters with several legs are one of the best uses of a small aircraft: Providence in the morning, Philadelphia after lunch, home for dinner. Waiting time is quoted up front.
